Welcome to the CorEST Help Guide.
CorEST has been designed to support your organisations emissions budgeting, forecasting, planning, and external reporting activities. Which we consolidate under the term emission accounting.
This guide is an introduction to using CorEST for emission accounting, including it its functions and features, as well as the IBM Planning Analytics platform that it is built on when applicable. The guide is structured around a best practice we have developed for using CorEST.
Best practice involves organising the annual tasks associated with emission accounting into Plans and delegating these tasks to specific Roles. Structuring emission data incoming from these Tasks into Scenarios that show current states, planned states, and target states.
A set of specific Books and Tag for CorEST have been created on the IBM Planning Analytics Workspace, often referred to as the PAW, for users to do the tasks assigned to them. They have been developed to be reflective of the best practices emissions accounting as well as useability and user experience. External Reports are delivered using IBM Planning Analytics for Excel, an extension to Microsoft Excel, often referred to as PAfE.
This Help Guide
This help guide is divided into sections that are reflective of the best practices outlined previously. They are:
- Plans
- Roles
- Scenarios
- Books
- Reports
These sections can be accessed via the tiles on the Main Help page. As well as these tiles there are also FAQ and Support pages.
Plans
Plans are step by step guides for managing and completing common emissions account activities using CorEST. IBM Planning Analytics has the Plan feature for this but if you choose not to use this feature the steps outlined are still our best practices activities for using CorEST for annual emissions budgeting forecasting, planning and reporting.
Roles
Roles give the required permissions to CorEST users to allow them to do their required tasks and approvals. As with Plans, whether your organisation chooses to implement these roles and associated permission on IBM Planning Analytics, we still see them as best practices for allocating tasks in plans for annual emissions budgeting forecasting, planning and reporting.
Scenario
Scenarios are used in CorEST to plan, implement, and track your emissions as you work to your reduction targets. Out of the box CorEST focuses on Scenarios for Targets, Actuals, Projections, and Initiatives. If required additional Scenarios can created using CorEST functionality.
Books
Books are collections of CorEST functions and features for users to work with emissions data and related scenarios. As mentioned above, have been created on the IBM Planning Analytics Workspace, often referred to as the PAW, and are each Book has sub entities called Tabs.
Reports
Reports are documents of your emissions data extracted from CorEST and formatted to the requirements of third parties such as Auditors or Regulatory Bodies. As mentioned above, have been created using IBM Planning Analytics for Excel, an extension to Microsoft Excel, often referred to as PAfE.
